Mia is the foundation’s deputy general counsel. Mia served as the foundation’s general counsel from 2012 – 2019. Mia manages all legal aspects of the foundation’s grant making and mission investment strategies in the United States, India, and South Africa. Mia also supports all functional teams within the foundation, including technology, finance, human resources, and facilities. Prior to joining the foundation in 2007, Mia was director of legal services at Seton Family of Hospitals in Central Texas. Mia also worked in the corporate/healthcare groups for the law firms of Jenkens & Gilchrist in Austin, Texas, and Harter, Secrest & Emery in Rochester, New York. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rice University and a juris doctorate degree from Cornell University.
