Seeing the Whole Picture: Smarter Support for 100 Million Students in India
Overview
Click Learning is improving reading outcomes for children by embedding digital personalized reading programs into South African schools – and backing them with labs, trained facilitators, and ongoing implementation support.
Impact
More than 230,000 students across 316 schools are building essential English reading skills for long-term academic success.
Students across South Africa come to school with the drive and eagerness to learn and strong English reading skills lay the foundation for their academic success. But not all students have consistent opportunities to build those skills early on. Click Learning meets that need by bringing digital personalized reading programs into public schools with limited resources, providing consistent, high-quality reading instruction and practice that helps children build skills at their own pace, stay engaged, and on track.
A Model Built for Real Schools
Limited infrastructure and access to hardware and software can make it difficult to effectively implement digital learning solutions. And even when devices or software programs are available, students don’t benefit without consistent, hands-on implementation.
Click Learning turns digital access into daily learning. They install mobile computer labs, train youth facilitators, assess learning outcomes, and monitor student progress. This consistent support is what drives reading progress.
Right Support at the Right Time
In South Africa, students learn in their home language through third grade, then most shift to English instruction in fourth grade. For many, that transition can become a major hurdle. Click Learning’s model helps them prepare for and succeed during that shift, while setting them up for longer term academic success.
With just 18 hours in their English reading program, students gain the equivalent of a full year of progress, often right when they need it most.
Creating Jobs and Expanding Opportunity
The model delivers more than reading gains – it creates jobs. Click Learning employs 980 youth facilitators, young adults who support lab sessions each day while gaining hands-on experience. Many facilitators move into permanent jobs or higher education, using their time with Click Learning as a springboard into long-term opportunities.
Click Learning shows that reading progress doesn’t depend on ideal conditions. It depends on smart design and the consistent support that makes digital reading programs work in real-world schools.
