Virginia currently serves as the senior programs director for the US Programs national team at the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, managing and supporting over 200 national projects totaling more than $270M in commitments annually. She leads a passionate team of 14 program members and applies her core competencies in team leadership, program evaluation, and entrepreneurship to effectively steer the foundation’s initiatives.
Virginia began her journey with the foundation in 2008, bringing with her a wealth of experience from diverse professional backgrounds. Prior to her philanthropic endeavors, she served as the director of product marketing at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and as a dedicated Spanish teacher at Lanier High School in Austin, Texas. This rich tapestry of experiences has equipped her with a unique perspective and skill set, enabling her to contribute significantly to the foundation’s mission.
Education has always been at the forefront of Virginia’s career and personal pursuits. She holds a bachelor’s degree in spanish and romance linguistics from the University of Virginia and an MBA in global business from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. This academic foundation, coupled with her cultural appreciation nurtured through experiences in Mexico, Spain, and South Africa, has further deepened her commitment to creating meaningful and lasting impact in both national and international spheres.
